Proudly Announcing Our Most Successful Rescue Mission Ever: 120 Saved In One Day
April 25th marked our Third Annual Love Goes the Distance rescue on the Mountain Ute and Navajo Nation in Utah’s Four Corners Area. Nuzzles & Co. teamed up with Mark Miller Subaru and rescued 111 homeless cats and dogs from the Four Corners Area. Three of the rescued dogs and one cat were pregnant, and one has given birth to a litter of nine—so the total so far is 120 animals saved (with more to come) in one day!
The day before, we loaded up five Subarus with dog food, cat food, tick treatment and vaccinations that had been collected, and a caravan of volunteers set out for Southern Utah! We distributed the food to our reservation fosters and partners and got ready for our big rescue.
Mark Miller, Jeff Miller, and crew piloted Mark’s private plane southward to load it up with the reservation dogs and cats in most need of medical attention. They flew two round trips in one day to get pregnant dogs, orphans and critical needs pets back to Salt Lake City, where more volunteers greeted the plane and its adorable occupants, and swiftly transported them to the Nuzzles Rescue Ranch for care. There, the animals were given immediate medical treatment. A team of staff and even more volunteers were ready to bathe, feed, and snuggle our newest rescues.
Meanwhile, Subaru volunteers loaded up Mark Miller Subaru’s donated cars with crates of dogs and cats healthy enough to make the six-hour drive back to the Rescue Ranch. Volunteers at the Ranch stood ready for the third wave of rescued dogs and cats.
By day’s end, all 111 dogs and cats were saved and snuggled into their comfy beds safely at the Rescue Ranch or placed in the loving arms of foster families. They are now getting all the love, attention and care they need to be ready for adoption in a few weeks.

We thank them for pouring their hearts and souls into this rescue mission. We are grateful to Brews on 7th and Hugo Coffee for helping us collect food and supplies to take to our partners in Southern Utah. And an enormous thank you to the Ute Mountain Tribe, the Navajo Nation, and all of our fosters and volunteers working tirelessly every day to save the lives of animals on the reservations. Together, we changed the lives of hundreds of dogs and cats and gave them a place Where Love Wins.
