Serving the Pets of the Navajo Nation and the People Who Love Them
Nuzzles & Co began traveling to the Navajo Nation to save the lives of homeless animals in need in 2015. Since then, we have rescued thousands of animals in need of love and care and found them forever homes.
While our efforts to rescue homeless and abandoned pets has made a considerable impact on the lives of people and animals on the reservations, there is still an incredible need for accessible and affordable care for the pets of the tribal members.
When the only animal shelter in the area closed in late 2018, services became almost nonexistent, and resources were scarce.
After spending years visiting the Navajo Nation, rescuing animals in need, and getting to know the people in the community, our heart and passion to assist the residents and their beloved animals only grew stronger.
When the opportunity to rent the old animal shelter in Kayenta came up in early 2021, we jumped at the chance to help and provide the much-needed resources that were lost a few years prior. Tó Dínéeshzhee’ Pet Resource Center opened in October of 2021.
It is our goal to provide life-saving care and resources that will benefit the local community while also curbing the growth of the homeless pet population through spay and neuter and the reduction of unwanted litters.
The pet resource center is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4:00 pm for wellness services, and we offer spay/neuter appointments a few times each month, as well as large-scale spay and neuter and vaccine clinics a few times each year.
