2021 was another busy year here at Nuzzles! Over the course of the year, we cared for 2000 animals and found loving forever families for 1570 pets – more than ever before! It was a record-breaking year for intake, adoptions, and services provided. We want to say a huge heartfelt thank you to every single person who makes it possible for Nuzzles to continue to grow and save more lives.

96.8% Lifesaving Rate
We know that every life is precious, and at Nuzzles & Co, we do everything in our power to help the animals in our care live happy, healthy lives. With 90% marking the threshold of being no-kill for any shelter or rescue group, Nuzzles & Co has always striven to go above and beyond for the animals that we rescue.
2,000 Animals Cared For
Over the course of the year, our hardworking and dedicated team cared for 2,000 animals. This is the largest number of animals we’ve had come through our doors in a single year in our 30-year history. We served 1072 dogs, 903 cats, and even 25 farm animals, thanks to our new Farm Animal Rescue Program!
986 Local Rescues
Nuzzles & Co. partners with dozens of animal control facilities, private shelters, and other rescue groups around Utah and the Mountain West. We are proud to assist our partners that are lacking space or resources by rescuing dogs and cats for medical care and adoption placement.
862 Reservation Rescues
Nuzzles & Co. is one of very few animal welfare organizations that partners with the Navajo Nation and Ute Tribe. We are honored to maintain an animal rescue and spay/neuter relationship with these communities to save lives and prevent pet overpopulation.
1,570 Animals Adopted
Our Nuzzles matchmakers spent thousands of hours working to find wonderful, loving homes for the animals we rescued, and 1,570 animals were placed with loving families, making 2021 our biggest year ever for adoptions!
2609 Medical Procedures
To help control the pet population, Nuzzles & Co spays and neuters all of our adoptable animals, but we also provide additional medical care that improves their quality of life and often saves it! From dental work to amputations, our Nuzzle Pals can count on us to get the care that they need. In addition to caring for the animals in our program, we offer spays and neuters, dental work, and other procedures through our low-cost community clinic for hundreds of owned animals, feral cats, and animals cared for by other rescue organizations.
775 Animals Spayed/Neutered at Pop-Up Rez Clinics
This year, thanks to our partnership with Soul Dog Rescue and our new collaborative effort, Western Agency Spay/Neuter and Pet Resource Center, 775 owned cats and dogs were spayed and neutered at our pop-up clinic events throughout the year, and thousands more were vaccinated and microchipped through our drive-thru vaccine clinics.
48 Purple Paw Pets
The Purple Paw program continues to be a vital program for our community. This year, we housed and cared for 48 pets so that their owners could escape their abusive family situations. We are honored to be able to help people fleeing domestic violence by giving their pets a safe place to stay while their owners get the help and support that they need.
