Pawsitive Press – Local Youth Make a Difference for Pets with the Pine Ridge News

Meet Trevor and Kelsey, two extraordinary young souls with a passion for pets and storytelling. Five years ago, they began sharing their love for animals through handwritten articles that they sold to neighbors and friends.  Their stories have since evolved into a four-page newspaper, called Pine Ridge News, capturing hearts with charming tales and captivating images.

But here’s what makes them even more extraordinary — Trevor and Kelsey donate half of their earnings to Nuzzles & Co! In a recent interview with our staff, they shared insights into their journey. Trevor & Kelsey, who are now 13 & 14, have been close friends for years. All while balancing school, sports, and dance, they also nurture their shared passion for storytelling. Their newspaper covers local news, animal stories, riddles, jokes, and puzzles – all for just $2.00 per copy! For eager readers, visit their website here to sign up. Subscribers can receive their content online or have a paper copy delivered right to their door (if within the local delivery area).

Through their journalistic efforts, Trevor and Kelsey have learned the importance of teamwork and communication. Their dreams are as big as their hearts, and they are shooting for the stars and aiming to reach even more readers with their tales of furry friends and local news. Their advice to other young change-makers? Have fun, work together, and be patient. Their journey has taken time to evolve, and they encourage others not to rush – or give up on – their dreams.

Trevor and Kelsey decided to donate a portion of their sales to Nuzzles & Co, because this is where Kelsey’s family adopted their family pets, and both Trevor and Kelsey’s families have instilled in them the value of giving back in order to make a positive impact.

Trevor and Kelsey’s story is a testament to the power of young hearts filled with compassion, creativity, and an unwavering dedication to making the world a better place for all creatures, great and small. We look forward to seeing their newspaper continue to flourish, and we’re grateful for the impact it has on the lives of our rescue animals. Thank you, Trevor and Kelsey, for using your skills and talents to help Nuzzles & Co build a world where love wins!
